Law.com reports that Freda L. Wolfson, former Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, has joined Lowenstein Sandler as Chair of its Alternative Dispute Resolution practice, calling her arrival “a homecoming” as Wolfson initially practiced litigation at the firm after graduating cum laude from Rutgers Law School-Newark. Wolfson says: “The significance of where I’m going is to put some symmetry to all of this, because I’m going back to the law firm where I got started when I got out of law school in 1979, and that’s the Lowenstein firm. And not only is it where I started, but I get to do it with people I know, because several of the people there are my former law clerks. I’ve often said my legacy on the court is not necessarily the opinions I’ve done or the cases I’ve decided but the law clerks I’ve mentored over the years, who I’m so proud of, who are so talented and wonderful individuals. One of them happens to be Chris Porrino, the former attorney general—and he’s the litigation director of the firm.” Christopher Porrino, partner and Chair of Lowenstein Sandler’s Litigation Department and 60th Attorney General of New Jersey calls Wolfson “a big difference-maker in my career, and mentor to me, and a dear friend.” Lowenstein Chair and Managing Partner Gary M. Wingens adds: “We are delighted that Judge Wolfson has returned to Lowenstein Sandler, where she first practiced law after her graduation from Rutgers Law School. It has been well worth the wait.” NJBIZ, Bloomberg Law, Law360, New Jersey Globe, Reuters, JD Journal, and ROI-NJ also reported Judge Wolfson’s arrival.
